Bloomington attorney, IU professor, and award-winning author Miller will answer questions and read from Water, her latest book of short stories, which O, The Oprah Magazine called “truly satisfying—imaginative, open-ended, haunting.” Miller’s other works have won the Flannery O’Connor Award and received prestigious citations from The Pushcart Prize and The O. Henry Prize, among others. Free.

One of the world’s best violinists (and a member of IU’s music faculty), Joshua Bell performs a free concert with virtuoso pianist (and IU alum) Jeremy Denk. Each attendee at this annual benefit for the Hoosier Hills Food Bank gets a handmade bowl: local potters donate more than 600 to the event each year. In addition to the pottery and food, there’s music from Sheasby Matiure (mbira), Steve Sobiech (guitar), Kaia (acappella), and IU’s Mutinhimira Marimba Ensemble. $25; tickets at Bloomingfoods locations, Yarns Unlimited, and the Hoosier Hills Food Bank.
