Teresa Birtles was remembered by family, friends, and colleagues last Saturday, August 7, during a celebration of life held at the Bloomington Woolery Farmers’ Market.
The founder and matriarch of Heartland Family Farm, Birtles was involved in the creation of new farmers’ markets in Bloomington and helped pioneer a farm-to-table organization that involves a number of local restaurateurs. She died June 30.
Bloom published a story about Birtles and Heartland Family Farm in its first issue in August/September 2006. Read that story here.
