Mark your calendars – Sunday, April 14, 2013 is the official date for the 11th annual Homeward Bound 5K Walk! Homeward Bound is a part of a series of eleven local fundraisers occurring throughout Indiana. As the largest collaboration of nonprofits in Bloomington, it’s a great way to get involved in the community and help work to alleviate homelessness and poverty. Over the past decade, this local event has raised $574,690, 100% of which goes directly to the 12 participating agencies to help people experiencing homelessness with shelter, food, and other emergency assistance needs.
Homeward Bound Bloomington will celebrate from noon to 3:30 pm on Sunday, April 14 at Waldron, Hill and Buskirk Park (formerly Third Street Park). Gather a group of your family, friends, or co-workers and form a team! Registration and donation information is available on the Homeward Bound website (http://homewardboundindiana.org/bloomington). The walk itself is free and open to the public, and the day includes entertainment, food, and refreshments, along with the opportunity to connect with others in the community. If you would like a Homeward Bound T-shirt, there is a minimum $20 donation (will be raised to $25 on April 11).
