Wild Turkey Day

10:30 am
Paynetown SRA (SR. 446)
http://www.tinyurl.com/monroelake

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, we’re highlighting turkeys today! Not the kind that most people buy for dinner, though… our focus is on the Wild Turkey. Both programs are FREE and entrance to Paynetown is FREE! Want to enjoy both programs? Grab some lunch in between at the Scenic View Restaurant or Trailhead Noshery, both located just north of Paynetown; or get a little adventurous and bring food for a picnic!

Turkey Trek at 10:30 am
Program Location: Meet at the overflow parking area inside Paynetown SRA (go past the gatehouse and the gravel parking area will be on your right) On this exploration hike, we’ll search for signs of wild turkey activity and discuss their daily life during the winter months. Please dress appropriately for the temperature and wear good hiking shoes (and be prepared for the possibility of some off-trail hiking!). Recommended for ages 8 through adult. 75 minutes

Turkey Time from 1 to 4 pm
Program Location: Paynetown SRA Activity Center (located next to the beach) We’ll have four special activity stations set up this afternoon – each with a different turkey-themed craft. As you move through the stations, you’ll learn neat facts about Wild Turkeys and have the opportunity to touch a real turkey skull, feathers, and feet. Drop by anytime between 1p and 4p! Crafts recommended for ages 6 to 12.

Cost: Free
