The Peking Acrobats

07:30 pm
IU Auditorium, 1211 E 7th St
http://www.iuauditorium.com/

The fun, the artistry, and the jaw-dropping spectacle—The Peking Acrobats deliver a performance that will have the whole family on the edge of their seats!

Daring maneuvers atop a precarious pagoda of chairs, treacherous wire walking, trick-cycling, precision tumbling, and somersaulting—the list of wonders these acrobats can do is endless. This gravity-defying performance will inspire wonder in children and adults alike.

Since their Western debut in 1986, the Peking Acrobats have redefined audience perceptions of Chinese acrobatics. They have evolved the ancient art into a breathtaking visual experience—constantly challenging boundaries of human possibility with amazing displays of contortion, flexibility, control, agility, and grace. Accompanied by skillful musicians performing traditional Chinese instruments and supported by high-tech stage effects, the Peking Acrobats guarantee an exuberant performance of physical tenacity and artistic mastery.

These masters of acrobatics have appeared on numerous television shows, including Ellen’s Really Big Show, ABC’s Wide World of Sports, NBC’s Ring in the New Year holiday special, and Nickelodeon’s Unfabulous. They have also given countless stellar performances to sell-out crowds all over the world, demonstrating their signature fusion of rich folk art tradition and modern technology—melding to create the most astonishing visual wonders.

As the Los Angeles Times exclaimed, “A performance by the Peking Acrobats is built on layers of amazement. Standing ovations must be a routine response, because after performers’ bodies hurtle through space and balance the unbalanceable, it seems no trouble at all for those in the audience to spring to their feet.”

Cost: General public: $40, $32, $22; IUB students and children: $35, $15, $12
