Nano: Small Science, Big Fun
Explore the science of the very, very small! The interactive science exhibition brings to life nanoscale phenomena in nature, as well as nano technology and products. Some of the exhibition experiences are part of a national touring collection, which is making its first appearance in Indiana at WonderLab.
Nano Art
An exhibition of fourteen images that show the compelling beauty of biological and physical structures on the nano- and micro-size scale. WonderLab visitors will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite image for the People’s Choice Award.
First Friday Evening Science of Art: Indigo Dyeing
Explore the art and science of dyeing fabric with indigo at WonderLab! Textile artist Coley Gillespie, a graduate student in the Indiana University School of Fine Arts, will help guide visitors in preparing and dyeing their own fabric to take home. Each visitor will be given a cotton hankerchief and instruction on how to do one of three different Shibori binding techniques before dipping the cloth into a vat of dye extracted from the indigo plant. WonderLab scientists will offer fascinating demonstrations that highlight the chemical process by which indigo undergoes oxidation to turn from a bright yellow-green hue to a deep blue dye.
