Additional Info: Includes an overview of hypertension; its definition, statistics, and what causes the condition; diagnosing the symptoms, understanding the side effects of hypertension, and what the different levels indicate. There will be a discussion about the variety of treatments, classes of drugs and how each medication works, and what the target readings are while on the drugs. The facilitators will explain methods of prevention, including diet, exercise, and smoking cessation. After the presentation, there will be a question and answer period, and blood pressure checks for interested participants.

About the Facilitators: Dannie Huang and Shay Volger are second year professional graduate students in the PharmD program at Purdue University.
