Brett Bowles, IU associate professor of French and an avid collector of vintage posters, will outline the differences in wartime poster design and aesthetics as he compares French and American bond posters produced between 1914 and 1918. He will also consider the political and economic contexts in which posters were produced and evaluate their effectiveness as public art.
