Alive Inside is a joyous cinematic exploration of music’s capacity to reawaken our souls and uncover the deepest parts of our humanity. This stirring documentary follows social worker Dan Cohen, founder of the nonprofit organization Music & Memory, as he fights against a broken healthcare system to demonstrate music’s astonishing ability to combat memory loss and restore a deep sense of self to those suffering from it. Alive Inside, which won the Audience Award at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, includes illuminating interviews with neurologist and author Oliver Sacks, as well as musician Bobby McFerrin. Directed by Michael Rossato-Bennett.

After the screening Dr. Michael Gerhard of Ball State University will discuss the film and share some exciting results of the implementation of a Music and Memory affiliated initiative in Muncie, Indiana.

This is a 2015 Bloomington Creative Aging Festival event.
