WOW – Butch Ross is Chattanooga TN’s premier Folk/Mountain Music guy and he’s got a sense of humor! He won over our Audience with his first Showcase last fall. We LOVE THIS GUY’S SOUND and lyrically, he’s got a LOT to say and he says it will skill and humor. Originally from Falls Creek Pennsylvania, he now resides in Chattanooga TN – he’s traveling a long way from home to play for y’all tonight. Butch performs on Banjo, Dulcimer, and Guitar …and has a beautiful mind and equally beautiful music, kind of an Americana Mountain Music sound; very, very pleasing. AND – we’ve got Joe Persinger back after only performing one time a few years back. Joe is a seasoned and accomplished Singer-Songwriter having written songs like ‘Raggedy Man’ and ‘Roller Rink Ruby’ and working mostly Country music until he felt that genre had become too commercialized. He turned to Bluegrass and Americana as his primary (musical) direction. Now ‘semi-retired’ as a newspaper journalist – Joe works in Southern IN performing to the delight of his fans. All of this is wonderful – but one of the most impressive accomplishments of Joe Persinger – is his son – Aaron Persinger who is also on this evening’s program. Aaron is coming in from Indianapolis to perform alongside his father this evening!! Aaron has shared the stage with the likes of Ramblin’ Jack Elliot, Tim Grimm, Yonder Mountain String Band, Crooked Country, R.B Morris, Rusty Bladen, Chris Shaffer and Larry Crane – just to name a few’ – most recently touring with the Reverend Payton’s Big Damn Band – and now Austin Lucas as he tours the Midwest. Persinger’s music is Americana more than not – but he can be a Rocker too and is high energy as a performer. The fourth writer on this evening’s program is the Showcase’s own Tom Marshalek – our social media guy. Tom is originally from Sweden – but grew up in the South Bend area of Indiana and found his way to Bloomington IN via Indiana University – where he received a degree in law and has passed the State Bar exam. Marshalek has chosen (at least for now) to use his skill on computer as his method of support . . . but also does fairly well as a D.J. and of course – as a musician. Tom is in a popular local band named ‘Double-EBand’ and a regular on the Showcase. He volunteered his talent on computer to become our social media guy – so if you check out our Facebook – www.facebook.com/BloomingtonSongwriters – you will be seeing the work of Tom Marshalek. We’re looking forward to having our friend and fellow Staff member Tom Marshalek on this evening’s program!
