This event occurs under a Charter by USA Roller Sports (USARS). USARS is recognized by the Federation Internationale de Roller Sports (FIRS) and United States Olympic Committee (USOC) as the national governing body for competitive roller sports in the United States. USARS is dedicated to creating, enhancing and conducting the best competitions and programs for roller sports.

USARS roller derby is a contact sport, requiring skaters to display their skills to maneuver cleanly through the pack to score points by lapping opposing team skaters. Roller Derby demands that its skaters combine a careful balance of precision, strength, teamwork, and strategy. The results are as spectacular to witness as they are to perform. Skaters are penalized for blocks to the back, tripping, jabbing with elbows, and cutting the track, among other things.. For added safety, skaters are required to wear fully safety gear, including helmets, during competition and practices. For more detailed information about roller sports visit usarollersports.org/ or contact USA Roller Sports, 4730 South St., Lincoln, NE 68506 Office: 402-483-7551.
