The summer of 2015, Dina Kellams, director of the Indiana University Archives, stumbled across an 1898 newspaper headline proclaiming “First Colored Girl in Indiana University.” The woman identified, Carrie Parker from Clinton, Indiana, is a name that was absent from the history of African Americans at IU. Come hear more about Dina’s rediscovery and the amazing path her subsequent research led her down!
