On April 22, as an Earth Day celebration, the Center for Sustainable Living and Discardia came together to present The 2012 Trashion Refashion Show at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater. The show was split into two sections, Refashion Designs (“modifying existing clothing into something more fashionable”) and Trashion Designs (“creatively turning discarded items into fashion”). Designs ranged from outrageous to classy, using everything from old jeans to cat food lids.
Even our very own Bloom contributor Lee Ann Sandweiss and design director Kaye Lee Johnston were involved! Sandweiss entered a piece created from Bloom bumper stickers and tote bags for Johnston to model!
Did you miss this year’s show? Or do you want to see your favorite design again? Here are courtesy videos of the event!

Thank you Bloom! These photos are great. So glad you could make it to our show.
Fun, Fun ,Fun! Miah Michaelsen was such a good sport as a celebrity model
for the “Trashion Off” event. She was a moving sculptural form in the tradition of Nick Cave’s “Sound Suits” inspired by African cultural celebrations. It was a true celebration of living life fully and making our own fun!
