HHFB’s Garden & Gleaning Program provides locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables for free distribution to those in need of emergency food assistance. Volunteers and community supporters are the most important assets our program has; the more supporters and volunteers, the more fresh food we raise and rescue. Growing our own produce allows us to bring in varieties of fresh fruits and vegetables most needed at the food bank and partnering with local farmers to harvest excess produce significantly increases the amount of produce we can distribute. Since 2009, the Garden and Gleaning Program has grown 102,135 pounds of produce in our garden and gleaned 483,521 pounds of produce from seven area farms. This has all been possible because of community supporters like you and the 2,451 volunteers that have given 7,616 hours of their time over 10 years.
