The Faerie Gathering at Paynetown State Recreation, scheduled for Saturday, June 23, is designed for craft and faerie enthusiasts of all ages.
The event begins with a “crafting circle” from 3 to 5 p.m. in the area around the Activity Center. There will be all kinds of faerie-themed crafts to make, including garden bells, faerie doors and veils, pine cone faeries, and colorful mobiles. All of the crafts are free to make, while supplies last, and all materials are provided.
At 5:15 p.m., visitors are invited to compete in the faerie costume contest at the Activity Center Amphitheater. All types of family-appropriate faerie costumes, from folklore to Disney and from light to dark, are welcome. Prizes will be awarded to best costumes, including an extra-large handcrafted faerie door for the overall winner.
The last activity is a solstice sundial workshop at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $5 per person and supplies are limited to 12 people. You can reserve a spot and see an example project at the Activity Center between 1 and 5 p.m.; any spots not reserved in advance will be available first-come first-served at the beginning of the workshop.
Cost: $5 fee for sundial workshop, all other programs are free with property entrance
