Music in Bloom New Music Festival

07:00 pm to 09:00 pm on May 18
First United Church, Bloomington Indiana
http://www.musicinbloomfest.com

The Music in Bloom Festival is a three-day performance event in Bloomington, Indiana that presents concerts of contemporary classical chamber music by living composers of the late-20th and 21st centuries. Our performances create opportunities for audience members to connect their personal understanding of art, music, and performance with unfamiliar styles and aesthetics through interactive experiences. This season, Music in Bloom will feature six concerts between Thursday, May 16 and Saturday, May 18, 2019 in and around Bloomington, including performances at the Bloomington Transit Center Downtown Station, the Brown County State Park Nature Center, the Head Start Education Program’s Lindbergh Campus, and First United Church on 3rd Street east of Indiana University. Concert programs will feature some of the most brilliant young new-music-specialist artists currently concertizing around the United States: the Chartreuse String Trio, Altered Sound Saxophone and Percussion Duo, clarinetist Andrea Vos-Rochefort, soprano Amy Petrongelli, and pianist Clare Longendyke. Composer-in-Residence Kerrith Livengood’s works will be featured on every concert, and she, along with the rest of the Music in Bloom team, will be involved in pre-concert talks and other interactive events over the course of the three-day festival. We look forward to sharing the experience with you!
