For autumn lovers seeking outdoor opportunities for seasonal fun, this year’s Great Glass Pumpkin Patch on the Monroe County Courthouse lawn is a socially distanced way to observe the season.

The 11th annual Great Glass Pumpkin Patch will be held on Saturday, October 10, from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. and will feature more than 500 hand-blown glass pumpkins. The pumpkins will be spread out on the courthouse lawn like real pumpkins in a patch for patrons to select.

Tickets for the event are on sale now, with proceeds benefiting the Bloomington Creative Glass Center.

In order to ensure that pumpkin shoppers maintain social distancing guidelines, only 15 patrons will be allowed in the patch at any time. Each ticket holder will be given a 15-minute time slot to peruse the patch, with the earlier time slots in the day being the most expensive. The first time slot will cost $100. Tickets for time slots after noon will be free.

There are 300 total tickets available. Each individual member of a family or group must purchase their own ticket, but a designated viewing area will be available for people who wish to stand on the sidelines of the patch and interact with those inside the patch, but who do not wish to purchase a ticket. All patrons must be older than 5 years old or confined to a stroller. Service animals are welcome, but other pets will not be permitted in the patch this year.

For those interested in purchasing a pumpkin but wary of attending the in-person event, custom pumpkins are available for order here.

The Bloomington Creative Glass Center is a nonprofit organization founded in 2011 that offers glass blowing classes to people in southern Indiana. Classes are open people of all ages and levels of experience. For more information, visit bloomingtoncreativeglasscenter.org.
