On Sunday, July 25, at 7 p.m., the 12th annual Trashion Refashion Runway Show will be held in the Switchyard Park pavilion. The event seeks to promote sustainability by presenting a thought-provoking runway show that challenges beliefs and behaviors about the role that clothing plays in our daily lives.
Local designers of all ages from a broad range of backgrounds will show over 40 designs on the runway. Trashion is a celebration of creativity, community, and sustainable living.
To be included in the show, designs must consist of at least 90% refashioned or discarded materials. Trashion designs are produced using waste materials not intended to be worn as clothing. Past shows included outfits constructed from yoga balls, cat food can lids, video tape, venetian blinds, and shrink wrap. Refashion designs give new life to unworn or discarded garments including commemorative t-shirts, graduation gowns and neckties.
Come out for a serious night of fun and fabulous fashion, including musical performances by Janiece and Celina Jaffe.
The event, which is sponsored by the Bloomington Arts Commission, is an all-ages event and is open to the public. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door or online here.
