The Indiana University women’s basketball team played in front of fans for the first time since March 2020, winning 97-43 in a preseason exhibition contest against the University of Indianapolis Friday night, November 5.
“It’s great to be back in front of our fans at [Simon Skjodt] Assembly Hall,” says Indiana coach Teri Moren. “It was nice to have some noise—some real noise.”
The Hoosiers were led by Mackenzie Holmes, who scored 19 points to go along with seven rebounds and three steals. Five other Indiana players reached double figures, including Ali Patburg with 14 and Grace Berger with 13.
Moren used every player on the Hoosiers’ bench, accounting for 33 of Indiana’s 97 points. “It’s always a great opportunity when you play your entire team and get to see some of the things we do in practice, and if they are going to work … if we’re getting better,” Moren says.
The first regular game of the season for No. 7/8 Indiana is this Wednesday, November 10, against Butler University at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Their home opener is on Sunday, November 14, at 5 p.m. against preseason No. 13 Kentucky.
