Local domestic violence shelter Middle Way House is encouraging Bloomingtonians to participate in National Human Trafficking Awareness Day on Tuesday, January 11, in order to raise awareness of the more than 20 million people around the world who are trafficked for labor or sex each year.
Also known as #WearBlueDay, National Human Trafficking Awareness Day invites people across the United States to wear blue to show their support for survivors of human trafficking and bring awareness to human trafficking.
Middle Way House suggests posting a selfie with friends and coworkers on social media wearing blue, and using the hashtag #WearBlueDay. Also tag @MiddleWayHouse on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Since 1971, Middle Way House has been providing services to people in crisis. Today, Middle Way House provides emergency shelter; a 24/7 help and crisis line; on-scene advocacy; support services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking; transitional and permanent housing solutions for survivors and their families; legal advocacy; and education and prevention programs. Middle Way House serves six counties in southern Indiana (Monroe, Greene, Lawrence, Martin, Morgan, and Owen) and relies on a staff of 70 and a committed volunteer force to provide around-the-clock response and services to those experiencing abuse and assault.
