In honor of Labor Day, Rockwell Kent’s iconic engraving is on display along with three other prints by this American Social Realist. Kent’s works were widely published in leftist journals in the 1930s, and his style and activist politics made him a favorite in the Soviet Union. This apocalyptic image of a lone worker fighting against aggressors with bayonets bears a title taken from Karl Marx’s Communist Manifesto that became a battle cry at labor strikes and protests worldwide.
