About the Author:
James H. Capshew has been a member of the Indiana University faculty since 1990. He is an historian of science and learning at the Bloomington campus. He is the author of the biography Herman B Wells: The Promise of the American University (2012) and Psychologists on the March: Science, Practice, and Professional Identity in America, 1929-1969 (1999) as well as numerous scholarly articles. In 2010 he gave the Herman B Wells Distinguished Lecture under the auspices of IU’s Society for Advanced Study. He has served as editor of the international journal History of Psychology and as editor for psychology of the New Dictionary of Scientific Biography.
