Eskenazi Museum of Art at Indiana University
https://events.iu.edu/artmuseum/view/event/event_id/121756
Create an interactive doll, with eyes that light up, using conductive thread and fabrics.
Led by artist Nicole Jacquard, explore art-making utilizing innovative materials and create an interactive soft sculpture. Like Robert Baines, Nicole Jacquard is classically trained in historical goldsmithing techniques. This workshop emphasizes STEM initiatives – in particular STEAM utilizing the addition of Art- in order to rethink how information can be presented and therefore
reach a more diverse audience.
This workshop is recommended for ages 12 and up. Participants will work with needle and conductive thread.
After the workshop, see Professor Jacquard’s mentor’s work in the featured exhibition, Robert Baines: Living Treasure and Fabulous Follies.
Nicole Jacquard is an Associate Professor of Jewelry, Metalsmithing and Sculpture at Indiana University.
This workshop will be in the Roehm Family Art-making Studio in the Kimberly and John Simpson Center for Education on the second floor of the museum.
