Sara, one of the world’s most brilliant planetary geologists, lives her life on Mars time—her days lasting longer and longer as she monitors mankind’s latest voyage to the Red Planet. But her daughter, Lis, continues to live her life as a teenager on Earth time, showing no interest in her mother’s world out in space, despite Sara’s best efforts. As both of their lives begin to spin out of control, they must grapple with the distance their two time zones create between them … even when they’re standing side by side.

A Demonstration of Watercolor by Anna Afshar
06:00 pm to 07:00 pm
The Venue
On Friday, April 13 at 6 p.m., The Venue will host a watercolor demonstration by one of the foremost water colorists and teachers in the Midwest, Anna Afshar.
Artists will tell you that watercolor is the most demanding and least forgiving of paints. Make a mistake and it’s over. Through her persistent study and practice, and with no small dose of talent, Anna Afshar has developed a technique that is dynamic, colorful, and spontaneous. In her demonstration, Anna will show you how she achieves her impressive results, and will give you her pearls of wisdom that you can carry back into your own practice. And it’s all free.
Bring your most observant artistic eyes and come early for a good seat. You will not be disappointed.

Just imagine being free from worry. Worry is a common reaction to the many uncertainties and complexities of daily life. Worry can easily rob us of our mental peace and keep us from living our life with authentic joy and confidence. It never helps prevent or resolve unwanted situations. Through training in meditation and mindfulness, we can learn to let go of our worries. By replacing worry with positive, constructive attitudes, we can begin to enjoy every moment of our lives.
The class will include guided meditations, a talk, and time for questions and answers. Everyone is welcome.
