Considered one of Hollywood’s finest comedies, The Apartment won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay. Jack Lemmon plays C.C. “Bud” Baxter, an office clerk who figures he can move up the corporate ladder by providing his apartment as a hideaway for his philandering bosses’ sexual trysts. All is well and good until he discovers the girl of his dreams, Fran Kubelik (Shirley MacLaine), is one of the mistresses involved. Should he choose to lose the girl … or the job? IU Cinema: One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest

07:00 pm to 09:13 pm
IU Cinema: 1213 East 7th Street, Bloomington, IN 47406

Adapted from Ken Kesey’s 1962 novel based on his experiences as night staff in a California VA hospital, the film depicts the story of a man who chooses hospitalization instead of jail. Jack Nicholson plays the anti-hero and Louise Fletcher the tyrannical psychiatric nurse who battle issues of power and agency, fueling critiques of the “myth” of mental illness and “asylum” care as a failed social experiment. The film swept the Oscars © (Best Picture, Director, Screenplay, Actor, and Best Actress), and is widely considered, along with the book, to help create the Community Mental Health Movement. Bloomington Songwriter Showcase – Ralph Ed Jeffers, Jason & Ginger, Greg Mahan – OPEN CHAIR – TONGHT!!

09:00 pm to 10:00 pm
Independantly produced - hosted by the Players Pub - 424 S. Walnut, Bloomington IN 47401
http://www.facebook.com/BloomingtonSongwriters

Ralph Ed Jeffers is fairly well known in central Indiana as a member of the popular ‘Punkin’ Hollar Boys’ – Ralph plays guitar, mandolin, banjo, fiddle . . . well you get the picture right? He is funny, he is a great musician and he is a VERY good songwriter – don’t miss him! Also, Bloomington duo Jason Fickle & Ginger Curry will be performing on this evening’s program. Ginger knows how to sell a song, with her gorgeous vocals, and her delivery of every single song she sings. Jason has had one of his tunes ‘Don’t Leave Your Car on My Lawn’ featured on NPR’s ‘Car Talk’ and he is a prolific Singer-Songwriter. Both of these talented musicians are featured on local community radio – WFHB – on their quarterly live radio productions – Ginger as part of the FABULOUS WFHB GoZpel GurlZ, and Jason as the band leader of ‘The Firehouse Rounders’ – the house band for the productions. If you haven’t heard ‘em yet – it’s time to do that! Greg Mahan is visiting us from Cincinnati – where he works more than most as a Singer-Songwriter. He has developed a sizable following here in Bloomington IN via the Songwriter Showcase – as one of the finest guitarist we’ve featured, not to mention his upbeat songs, sang beautifully and with so much energy and enthusiasm. Greg loves what he does, and we do too!
Remember – NO COVER CHARGE and ALL Ages are welcomed
