Exhibit: The Day in Its Color: A Hoosier Photographer’s Journey through Midcentury America

This exhibit at the Mathers Museum of World Cultures is a companion piece to the book by Eric Sandweiss, and presents a survey of Cushman’s extraordinary work, an archive of photographs that is the largest known body of early color photographs by a single photographer—14,500 in all, most shot on vivid, color-saturated Kodachrome stock. It will run until August 27.

Exhibit: “Articulture”

“Articulture” at The Venue is an exhibit of paintings by Marco Zehrung. Marco’s unusual and bold color combinations evoke powerful emotional sensations from the viewer in both their figurative and painterly abstractions. Many of these new paintings are reminiscent of the surf, sand and sun. Although quite bold, they create a calming effect.

The exhibit runs until August 16 and will be available for viewing during regular gallery hours: 11 am-7 pm Tu-Sat, 12 pm-5 pm Sun.

Club Riders at Bloomington Boys & Girls Club

Club Riders meets every Tuesday from March through November to ride bikes. It is a program that teaches older kids and teens to safely ride bikes around town, repair bikes, and offers a chance to get out of the club and explore Bloomington.

Annual fee for membership in the Boys & Girls Club is $20. It is open to ages 6-18. See website for more information and membership form.

This commission was established in December, 2009 to encourage the development of programming, explore issues and concerns, celebrate accomplishments, promote solutions to the problems and challenges and work in collaboration with other community organization to promote public awareness of the senior and aging community.

The CoA meetings are on the second Tuesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. in the Hooker Room.
