Members of Bloomington’s LGBTQ+ community are invited to share their words and poems that resonate with their lives and experiences. To participate, please email [email protected].

Bloomington PRIDE is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving the LGBTQ+ communities of Bloomington and South Central Indiana through advocacy, outreach, safe-space programs, and arts and culture events. Bohemian Rhapsody Sing Along Screening

07:30 pm
Buskirk-Chumley Theater
https://bctboxoffice.org/event/bohemian-rhapsody-sing-along/

Bohemian Rhapsody is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music, and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury. Freddie defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet. The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound. They reach unparalleled success, but in an unexpected turn Freddie, surrounded by darker influences, shuns Queen in pursuit of his solo career. Having suffered greatly without the collaboration of Queen, Freddie manages to reunite with his bandmates just in time for Live Aid. While bravely facing a recent AIDS diagnosis, Freddie leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music. Queen cements a legacy that continues to inspire outsiders, dreamers, and music lovers to this day.

Normally we discourage singing, stomping, and clapping during our film screenings but we’re making an exception in this case. This screening of the full film includes karaoke-style lyrics. Imagine yourself in the Live Aid audience. Join the band. Finally figure out the actual lyrics to “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Costumes are encouraged! In fact, we’ll launch the evening with a costume contest.

Release date: 2018
Run time: 2 hrs 14 min (film) + up to 15 minutes (costume contest)
MPAA rating: PG-13
