Juliana Burrell Art Exhibit – Original Acrylic Paintings
This art show is dedicated to our journey through life as we experience and process love and loss.
OPENING NIGHT – On opening night we will begin a community painting of LOVE, LOSS, REMEMBERING & LETTING GO (depending on your Love and Loss journey). You will have the opportunity to honor a loved one, remember a lost one, or let go of someone or an experience in a simple, beautiful and meaningful way.
Opening night is February 7th, 5:00pm-8:00pm.
The show runs Jan 31st – Feb 20th.
BIO – I was born & raised in South America until I was 17 years old. After completing multiple degrees at Indiana University, I joined a professional circus troupe as an aerialist and toured nationally for many years. After touring, I returned to Indiana and began work as an Artist, Art Educator and opened Asabela Studio, a Circus Arts School and now an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Department of Theatre Drama and Contemporary Dance, teaching Aerial Dance.
My artwork reflects passion and whimsy, love and relationships, fascination and emotion. I feel grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to experience a beautiful and colorful life in Brazil, the magic of circus life, the love of family and wonder of becoming a parent, and the pleasure of learning and teaching.

Les Misérables and the French Revolutionary Tradition by Rebecca Spang
Over the last 230 years, France has had at least three major revolutions, four monarchies, five republics, and three empires. Contrary to common perception, Victor Hugo’s Les Misérables is not set during the famous French Revolution of the 1790s, but decades later. How can having revolutions become an almost ordinary part of political life, and what role do works of art have in them?
Rebecca L. Spang (B.A., Harvard; PhD, Cornell) is Professor of History and Director of the Center for Eighteenth-Century Studies at Indiana University. The author of The Invention of the Restaurant: Paris and Modern Gastronomic Culture and of Stuff and Money in the Time of the French Revolution, she has also written for the Washington Post and the Financial Times.
