Join United Way and IU Political and Civic Engagement for a monthly morning speaker series to explore issues that impact our community, friends, and neighbors.
On Thursday, February 11, we will explore, “What’s New with 211?” 211 serves thousands of our community members each year with resources and referrals to meet their unique needs via a 24-hour hotline and website. Recently, the service has undergone a transformation and is now housed within the state’s Family and Social Services Administration.
Amidst this major overhaul, a global pandemic arose, and 211 has responded in new and innovative ways to meet the needs of Hoosiers. Tune in to hear from Indiana 211 Executive Director Tara Morse and Deputy Director, Jaimie Ferren, as they update the community on all that is new at 211.
Alongside friends, neighbors, nonprofits and community partners, learn more about issues that directly or indirectly affect everyone in our area. Attendees will have the opportunity to deepen their awareness about someone else’s reality while learning about the challenges, innovations, collaborations, resources available through area nonprofits, and how to get more involved in making a difference. Guests are invited to come with questions for the speakers or just listen and learn.
This is a free event, but please RSVP before the event via the Eventbrite link found at www.monroeunitedway.org/WakeUp.
Wake Up! with United Way is co-hosted by United Way of Monroe County and Indiana University’s Political and Civic Engagement program, with support from presenting sponsors Bloomington Township, Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County, IU Credit Union, and Old National Bank.
