9th Annual Bloomington Polar Bear Plunge
10:30 am to 11:30 am
Fairfax Beach
http://www.bloomingtonpolarbearplunge.org
This year we’ll celebrate the 9th Annual Plunge Bear Plunge … January 1st at 11 am at Fairfax Beach in Bloomington. It’s a plunge into the frigid waters of Lake Monroe—and a seriously fun time for all!
The 2013 Polar Bear Plunge is a free event—everyone is welcome! Certificates of Achievement will be awarded to participants. This year’s theme is “vikings.”
Cindy Duffy and Christy Duffy Paiement have been organizing this event since 2003 when Cindy was first diagnosed with bladder cancer. This year we will again have T-shirts for sale to commemorate the event. All proceeds from the event go to the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network
Last year’s event was far and away our biggest ever (it was a sunny morning—a balmy 37 degrees and the water was a brisk 35 degrees). We had ~200 swimmers and another 75 people cheering us on (okay, well technically speaking, some of them were just laughing).
