Additional Information:
Falling is currently the number one cause of serious injury in older adults, so good balance is an extremely important aspect of maintaining an active lifestyle as we age. Fortunately, balance can be improved through a variety of strength and flexibility exercises. This class will teach and reinforce basic skills to help maintain and improve balance in order to prevent the occurrence of falls.

While most balance exercises do not require equipment, we are pleased to incorporate our new balance exercise tools provided by a Smithville Charitable Foundation grant. Materials such as wooden wobble boards, foam balance pads, and Therabands help strengthen muscles associated with balance and coordination. Payment options are available upon request.

For more information: call the center at 876-3383 ex. 515.

Cost: $5 + $1 for skate rental

Come see what it’s all about at our Skills Camp on Monday, January 13th at Western Skateland (930 W. 17th St). It starts at 6:30pm and ends at 8:00pm. For a mere $5, plus $1 skate rental if you don’t have your own, we’ll go over the basics of the game and let you try out your skills. We’ll supply the gear, instruction, and encouragement for your first roller derby lesson.

BHRD is really keen to add to our amazing referee crew. Men and women who are interested in becoming refs can attend the skills camp to try out their skills AND learn what reffing in roller derby is all about.

If you’re not interested in skating, but would love to learn about becoming one of our essential and awesome non-skating officials or volunteers, stop by and talk to us. We’ll get you signed up! No charge for stopping by just to talk!

Hugs and hip checks,
