Make it a day “on” this Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Monday, January 18) by bringing food donations to the Lotus Firebay for the Hoosier Hills Food Bank.
Find the Hoosier Hills Food Drive Wish List HERE: https://www.lotusfest.org/…/01/Food-Drive-Wish-List.pdf
Lotus employees will be listening to our Lotus Winter Playlist with the doors open to the Firebay and waiting to *safely see you there from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM on January 18.
We will place the Hoosier Hills Food Bank barrels outside of the Firebay or right inside the sliding doors if we have bad weather.
* All participating must wear a mask. Only Lotus employees may enter the Firebay on this day. Hand sanitizer will be provided.
Can’t make it on the 18th?
You can drop off food items from Tuesday, January 12 – Friday, January 18 from 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM at the Lotus Firebay. The barrels will be outside the Firebay or right inside the sliding doors.

Dr. King understood the importance of science. In 1963 he published a series of sermons titled Strength to Love. In the first sermon of the compilation, “A Tough Mind and a Tender Heart,” Dr. King noted that, “Science investigates; religion interprets. Science gives man knowledge, which is power…” Four years later he spoke at the American Psychological Association’s Annual Convention in Washington, D.C. and in a powerful speech, challenged the nation’s social scientists to use facts to combat systemic racism.
WonderLab honors the work of Dr. King and all that have continued this work throughout the year. WonderLab strives to provide an enriching safe space and is founded on values of inclusion and access so that everyone may experience the wonder of science and the power that comes from exploration and knowledge. On the day dedicated to Dr. King, WonderLab will be offering virtual programming that honors his legacy.
Join WonderLab educators and Monroe County Public Library Librarians for story reading and science activities. Science Story Time allows young scientists to develop literacy and STEM skills as well as build vocabulary by actively participating in the program. Activities designed for ages 3-6. All welcome.
