IU Cinema Presents: ‘Mystery of Picasso’

03:00 pm
IU Cinema (1213 E. 7th Street)
http://www.cinema.indiana.edu/

In 1955, Henri-Georges Clouzot joined forces with his friend Pablo Picasso to make an entirely new kind of art film, a film that could capture the moment and the mystery of creativity. While Picasso, the most influential artist of the twentieth century, is making a painting, Clouzot (The Wages of Fear and Diabolique) is filming the process. Most of the paintings were subsequently destroyed so that they would only exist on film. The French government has declared the film a national treasure. (35mm presentation)

The film will be preceded by the short film Visit to Picasso (1949).

Gallery Talk – Focus on Picasso
Sunday, January 20, 2:00–2:45 pm.
IU Art Museum – presented by Nan Brewer, The Lucienne M. Glaubinger Curator of Works on Paper.

Events are co-sponsored by the IU Art Museum and IU Cinema and are made possible through the generous support of Marsha Bradford and Harold Dumes. Special thanks to Natasha Ritsma and Nan Brewer.
