Heritage Days, an annual event at Monroe Lake’s Paynetown SRA, returns to the property on Friday, July 13 through Sunday, July 15.

The highlight of the event is a small Heritage Village that sets up in the Lakeview picnic area, next to the swimming beach. Reenactors portray different time periods from 1745 to the 1890s and invite you to wander through their camps.

The Heritage Village is open from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 13, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday, July 15.

The naturalist staff will also offer historically-themed kids programs and crafts on Friday and Saturday to complement the Heritage Village.

Paynetown SRA is located at 4850 S. State Road 446, Bloomington.

The Property Entrance Fee at Paynetown SRA is $7 per vehicle with Indiana license plates, or $9 per vehicle with out-of-state plates. Annual Entrance Permits are also available for sale at the gatehouse.

Cicada Cinema will team with Cowork Btown for a special screening of LEAN ON PETE, the latest feature film from acclaimed director Andrew Haigh (45 Years, Weekend)!

“Lean on Pete” tells the story of 15-year-old Charley (Charlie Plummer), who finds acceptance and camaraderie at a local racetrack while caring for an aging Quarter Horse named Lean On Pete. When Charley discovers that Lean on Pete is bound for slaughter they head out into the great unknown. Charley and Pete embark on an odyssey across the new American frontier. They experience adventure and heartbreak in equal measure as they pursue their dream of finding a place they can call home. Also starring Steve Buscemi, Chloe Sevigny, and Steve Zahn.
