Bill Price lives in Indianapolis – has been performing a couple of shows per year for a few years – maybe 4 years now. He’s pretty busy as musicians go, does a LOT of traveling, but enjoys playing in the Bloomington Songwriter Showcase a LOT. He has a very enlightened way to view the world and his songs so his lyrics are very cool and his melodies are exceptional. Bill’s songs are about nature, traveling and some wise observances. Alyssa Jacey is from San Diego CA – was a fairly successful hip hop dancer, backed up some heavy hitters – artist out there, BUT her love of Folk, Americana and Country Music moved her to Nashville TN – where she lives now. Alyssa could be a model – she is fairly young (Mid 20’s?) just beautiful, has a smile that never stops, and is just wonderful as an entertainer. She has a GREAT voice, strong songs and she adores entertaining. This will be her 2nd Showcase . . . the girl is the real deal (www.alyssajacey.com). She also has a talent development business on the side. . .talent, beauty and brains! Ralph Ed Jeffers is a Country / Bluegrass kinda guy, who is a very versatile musician. He is from Martinsville IN, has a long beard, a sparkle in his eyes. He’s a fellow in his 40’s I’d guess. Ralph Ed carries his mando, fiddle, guitar with him to showcases and become one of the Audience favorites. He is REALLY funny, has lots of great stories to tell when he’s in the mood : -) When Ralph Ed Jeffers is on a program, he keeps busy due to all of the other writers asking him to play along with them. Often this is not a good thing as everyone is playing original songs – and can’t rely on another writer ‘understanding the chord progression’. But not so with Ralph Ed. – writers KNOW he’ll be able to do accompany them competently. Fact is; Not all Songwriters are great musicians . . . The last writer on Monday’s Showcase will be Eric MacDougall. MacDougall is making his Showcase debut. We have a monthly open ‘Share-A-Chair’ spot – where we keep one of the four Feature Writer Spots open to try out new talent (or where the veterans of the Showcase can try out new songs). That’s where we met Eric. I don’t know much about him . . . yet. I know he is not a full time entertainer – and although he is in Bloomington for work occasionally, he doesn’t live here. I think he might be from northern IN. I recall his songs being a bit more Contemporary than most writers have been. He seems to enjoy Blues, Rock and Jazz. I’ll know more about him after I hear him play live on Monday : -).
