Youth Fishing Derby

Cast a line and catch a fish! Kids, ages 16 and under, are invited to participate in this free fishing derby. Borrow our equipment or bring your own; bait will be provided. A prize drawing will be held at 10a for all participants! New and beginning anglers are welcome; instructors will be on hand to teach the basics and offer assistance. Please check in no later than 9:15 a.m. at the Fishing Pier, located across the road from the Swimming Beach.

Bloomington Open Studios Tour 2015: A Summer Visual Arts Weekend

During the tour weekend, visitors are invited to take a free, easy-to-navigate self-guided tour of 27 art spaces throughout the Bloomington area. This will be a unique opportunity for art lovers to meet 45 participating artists, to get an intimate look at creativity in action, and to acquire artworks – a great way to experience the tremendous variety of visual art being created in Bloomington, Indiana!
Our free full-color Educational Booklet is full of artist images and locations, navigational maps, messages from our sponsors and partners, and website information. It can be found at the Convention and Visitors’ Bureau on North Walnut, downtown Bloomington’s art galleries, and artists’ studios. On the day of the tour, studio locations will be clearly marked with red balloons and yard signs.

Whether you live on ¼ or 100 acres, you can learn all you need to know to turn your home into a welcoming habitat for an amazing assortment of native plants and animals at Sustaining Nature and Your Land Day (SNAYL Day). Join Monroe County – Identify and Reduce Invasive Species (MC-IRIS) for a fun and enlightening day featuring exhibits and presentations on how to control invasives while encouraging native species.

Gain valuable skills and knowledge while browsing the booths and displays in the exhibit hall or by attending one of the expert led presentations on topics such as Invasive Identification, A How-to Guide for Landscaping with Native Plants, Invasive Insects You Should Know About, and It’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (What Can We Do to Keep It That Way?).

By the time she was 8, she was opening for Loretta Lynn, Conway Twitty, The Oakridge Boys, Tanya Tucker, Freddy Hart & Barbara Mandrel as an original, & youngest, member of the Little Nashville Opry. Since then, Robins has gained attention with her high-energy, contemporary sound, performing at The Folk Alliance conference, & opening for Junior Sisk & Ramblers Choice at Historic Jonesborough Bluegrass Series concerts. Robins will perform songs from her latest cd 40 Years Late. BC beer & wine sold in the auditorium.
