Flora Field Day
09:30 am to 11:30 am
Salt Creek State Recreation Area
http://bit.ly/florafieldjun2017
• Sign up for this session at http://bit.ly/florafieldjun2017
• Registration required by June 4.
• Free; recommended for ages 12 and up.
• Session location: Salt Creek SRA
Want to work on your flora identification skills? Practice with a naturalist! Field day emphasis is on proper use and application of an ID key, which opens the door to identifying thousands of species. The naturalist will work with each attendee based on their prior experience. If you’ve never worked with flower ID before, this is a great way to learn. If you have prior experience, this is a fun way to practice your skills (and maybe add some new blooms to your life list!). 2 hours
Things to Bring:
• Newcomb’s Wildflower Guide (extra copies available, if you don’t have your own)
• bug spray (long pants are also a good idea!)
• hat and sunglasses (for sun protection)
• water bottle (pre-filled)
• camera (if you’re the picture-taking type)

Kenny Lee Hall, Nathan Dillon & Taylor Hernley – Tonight! The Bloomington Songwriter Showcase
08:00 pm to 10:00 pm
Bears Place - 1316 East 3rd St., Bloomington IN 47401
Taylor Hernley showed up two weeks ago to do a song at our weekly Open Guest Chair – and our audience went crazy over him. He’s got a wonderful bluesy/southern rock feel to his music. Taylor is a very colorful musician with an edge to his sound. We really enjoyed this young man’s fresh style and we think you till too! Visit https://youtu.be/mBXWsy13RQo to check him out.
Nathan Dillon (www.EverybodyRocks.net) is the Headmaster at EVERYBODY ROCKS – teaching beginning music students to play! He’s fun to be around for sure, and his tunes are as clever as he is. He has performed with us once before and we are very pleased he has accepted our invitation to perform at the Showcase again.
Kenny Hall (www.kennyleehaul.com) will round out our Feature Writer program this evening. Kenny is a Missouri native who writes tunes sure to ‘make you smile, shake your head a bit, then smile bigger’. Music with a fresh twist is his description of his tunes.
Bring your instrument and sign up to play a tune on our Open Guest Chair! Spots are limited so sign up by emailing us at [email protected] or show up by 7:30 to snag one of them!
FREE – Must be 21+ to enter Bears Place BACK ROOM / park in private lot behind Bears Place or on street (after 5pm)
