Build a log cabin like a pioneer, march like a Civil War soldier, dance like a 1920’s flapper, and plant your own WWII victory garden as you travel through Indiana’s history. Hands-on activities and reenactments will be done with the History Center’s collection. There will be a field trip at the end of the week to the Indiana State Museum. Registration deadline is June 3, 2017.

“Completing the Circuit” a presentation by Jack Coleman
05:30 pm to 07:00 pm
The Venue Fine Art & Gifts
http://www.thevenuebloomington.com
On Tuesday eve, June 13th, beginning at 5:30p.m., The Venue will host a presentation by Jack Coleman, entitled Completing the Circuit.
In depth conversations and meaningful exchanges about the more controversial concepts of life can be hard to find. There are so many perceived differences in the world, and the intensity of those differences is becoming ever more extreme. How can we resolve them without the discrimination, segregation, and even the violence we have become so used to experiencing?
Jack will dive into these conversations through the physical and metaphysical aspects we are able to experience in the world; to see the information and figure out the “why’s and how’s”, to become more empathetic and understanding.
What are we doing here? Why do we experience things the way we do?
Jack calls this method of inquiry “Life Hacking;” a way to explore how our inner world is connected to our outer world and vice versa. Since everything is built on relationships, how can it all be connected and why does it work the way that it does?
Topics of exploration include
– Nature of Consciousness
– Meaning of Empathy
– Life Dynamics
Sound vague, but that’s just it…There’s no “off limits” as to where the topics of conversation can lead; it’s all about exploring a depth or alternate perspective that hasn’t been reached before.
The point of having this event is to help facilitate and also answer questions we have about the world pertaining to consciousness, empathy, and dynamics, in order to shed light on possibilities, and move some not-so-tangible energy,
Join Jack for this free mini presentation and longer Q&A. Come with questions we can dive into and see what sort of “hacks” come up!

Rick LeDune, Brandon Pfeiffer and ‘Sheepish’ – TONIGHT – Bloomington Songwriter Showcase
08:00 pm to 10:00 pm
Bears Place - 1316 East 3rd St., Bloomington IN 47401
http://www.facebook.com/BloomingtonSongwriters
Rick LeDune (www.reverbnation.com/rickledune) has been an audience fave since his first Showcase. His music is Country Rock/Americana and is teaming with humor. If you haven’t heard of Rick LeDune – you should have! Come check him out Tuesday night!
Brandon Pfeiffer (www.brandonjp.com) is one of the three staff members for the Bloomington Songwriter Showcase. Brandon mans the Bloomington Songwriter Showcase website (www.facebook.com/BloomingtonSongwriters) AND he is the closing host most Tuesday evenings. What Brandon does better than most is write and sing music – with his clean, powerful, and vast vocal range – he’s a delight on stage (and off).
The third feature writer spot has been filled with ‘Sheepish’ a contemporary duo with Chris Learned & Briana Myers. They describe their music as Pop/Rock – “pessimistic songs done optimistically”. You can find out a bit more about this dynamic duo at www.facebook.com/SheepishMusic OR www.SheepishMusic.Bandcamp.com. We look forward the first Showcase appearance by ‘Sheepish’.
Don’t forget! Every Tuesday evening we keep one of the 4 feature writer chairs open for Singer/Songwriters to perform a tune. Music MUST be original. Contact Suzette ([email protected]) to reserve a spot (limited to 5 writers per evening). We’ve recently begun to add short comedy routines to our Open Guest Chair invitations!
FREE! Plenty of free parking too – behind Bears Place in private lot AND on street after 5:00pm
Must be 21+ to enter Bears Place BACK ROOM
