Exhibit: Avi Katz at the City Hall Atrium

The work of Avi Katz is on display in the City Hall atrium throuhgout the month of June. Avi was born and raised in Israel and is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York. As a newcomer to Bloomington, Avi said he was compelled to do illustrations of local scenes in a uniquely visualized documentation from a non-conventional angle. His art is greatly influenced by French graphic novels and animation and the combination of the European style and local landmarks results in fresh observations of familiar places. Avi did the artwork for the Scott Russell Sanders fiction stories in the June/July 2012 issue of Bloom Magazine. This is his fourth exhibition.

The exhibit will be on display June 1-30. Exhibition hours are 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, as well as additional evening and weekend hours when City Hall is open for meetings.

Limestone Symposium: Carve-by-the-day

Beginning instruction in hand carving, work at your own pace. One or more days, pay as you go. Workshops are 9am – noon Monday-Friday. Participants may continue working independently through the afternoon. Participants must bring safety glasses and wear sturdy shoes, no sandals or flip-flops are permitted.

Included: Tools and 2 cubic feet of stone (approximately 300 pounds)

$50 per day, $200 per five-day week. Runs June 4-8, 11-15, and 18-22.

Turf Time for Toddlers

When your toddler or preschool child hits the turf field at the Twin Lakes Recreation Center, they will be ready to run and play! An indoor turf field provides you and your young child with ample space to run, play on an obstacle course, and practice ball throwing and kicking skills. This free-time play is parent supervised while the TLRC provides all the equipment for an hour of healthy physical play.
