Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington will be hosting an Express Enrollment and Community Day on Saturday June 24th from 10a-4p. During this event students interested in taking classes this August will be able to receive assistance with the application and registration process. Additionally, financial aid workshops will be hosted at 11am and 2pm and campus tours will be available every hour. Fun inflatables, food trucks, and giveaways will be available from 11a-2p. If you enjoy both crafts and faerie tales, you won’t want to miss the Faerie Gathering at Paynetown State Recreation Area on Saturday, June 24.

Craft activities are scheduled throughout the afternoon and evening. Participants can make faerie tale creatures (glittering dragonfly, sullen snail, pinecone faerie) and create fun accessories to place in a faerie garden (faerie baby bassinet, miniature wind chimes).

All of the activities are included for free with property admission, except for the Faerie Door Workshop which has a $5 fee and is limited to 15 participants.

Admission to Paynetown SRA (4850 S. State Road 446, Bloomington) is $7 per vehicle with Indiana plates, or $9 per vehicle with out-of-state plates. Annual passes can also be purchased at the entrance gatehouse.

During the monthly Museum Open Day, a sizable selection of native plants, bushes and trees will once again be available for sale with all proceeds to benefit garden and grounds projects at the farmstead. Natives can be successfully planted throughout the growing season well into the fall and those with MC-IRIS SNAYL Day vouchers can redeem them at the site. The day will also feature music by members of Friday Musicale in the parlor of the main house. Visitors may also purchase jellies produced on site by volunteers. The Farmstead is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is owned and maintained by Bloomington Restorations, Inc.

This Macon, Georgia born and bred man turned Hoosier writes songs played on the weirdest rig that ever sounded like a piano in a style that can best be described as “Ray Charles meets Jerry Lee Lewis in a head-on collision with no survivors.” Piano teachers should be prepared to avert their eyes since Bob never had a piano lesson and couldn’t care less about proper technique.
