Youth Art Month

10:00 am to 11:30 am
Eskenazi Museum of Art at Indiana University
https://events.iu.edu/artmuseum/view/event/date/20200307/event_id/113433

Join us for our annual Youth Art Exhibition featuring selected works by K-6 MCCSC students.
This exhibit showcases the artwork of students in kindergarten through sixth grade.

Observed nationally since 1961 and locally since 1973, Youth Art Month provides an opportunity to recognize the significance of pre-college art education, our art educators, and the IU Eskenazi Museum of Art’s K-12 Grade Tour Program.

Each artwork in the exhibit was selected by the MCCSC art teachers to showcase the high quality and wide variety of art education in our local school programs.

This annual exhibit beautifully illustrates the importance of art education in students’ lives.

Presented by the IU Eskenazi Museum of Art and the Monroe County Community School Corporation.

Hidden Cloud Workshop with Filmmaker Xavier Sotomayor

12:00 pm to 06:00 pm
Bloomington Academy of Film and Theatre
https://www.thebaft.org/product-page/hidden-cloud-5-stages-of-creating-with-xavier-sotomayor

The Bloomington Academy of Film and Theatre presents “Hidden Cloud: the 5 stages of creating” with Filmmaker Xavier Sotomayor on Saturday March 7.

My name is Xavier, and I’m a Filmmaker that lives in Los Angeles, California. I grew up in Bloomington, Indiana, and attended Templeton Elementary, Jackson Creek Middle School, Bloomington South High School, and Indiana University. I moved to Los Angeles in 2011 with a dream of making a living as a Filmmaker. At the moment it felt far-fetched, but now that I’m here, I get to see that everything has a process and a language that must be respected. By simply shifting your perspective and learning the right process, anything is possible. I’ve gotten to work alongside some iconic artists and brands, such as Adidas, Cardi B, Garth Brooks, Duke Dumont, Pleasures, A$ap Rocky, YG, G-Eazy, IDK, Brooklyn Circus, Drake, Nike, the Chain Smokers, and many more. Now it’s important for me to pay it forward and challenge you! This course will inspire you to look deeper at the possibilities around you.
