This forty-five minute “boot camp” class at the Monroe County YMCA combines a number of intense exercises (plyometrics, running skills, jumping, and stair climbing) and is an advanced level class. It runs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from April 16 to May 27. Register on website.

Strength training is recommended to help keep muscles toned and bones dense. Certified instructors will use equipment such as body bars, hand weights, and stability balls to create a variety of workouts. This one-hour strength class will use exercises that are functionally appropriate for all and will create an overall toning experience for the entire body. This class meets the Department of Insurance pre-licensing classroom requirements for Life, Accident and Health Insurance. Attendance is mandatory at each session. Students will receive a Certificate of Completion from Ivy Tech and the Department of Insurance, which allow a student to sit for the state licensing exam.

When your toddler or preschool child hits the turf field at the Twin Lakes Recreation Center, they will be ready to run and play! An indoor turf field provides you and your young child with ample space to run, play on an obstacle course, and practice ball throwing and kicking skills. This free-time play is parent supervised while the TLRC provides all the equipment for an hour of healthy physical play. Man as Object presents works of art that examine the visibility of men and masculinity from female/feminist/transgender perspectives. By surveying the ways men are represented in contemporary art by women, this exhibition opens new dialogues regarding the myriad of ways women view men in today’s culture and society. It marks an important development in feminist art, which has long concentrated on images of women meant to challenge stereotypical notions of womanhood. A gallery filled with works depicting men, created by women, actively resists the prevalence of the male gaze in art. This traveling exhibition will be accompanied by a selection of artworks by female artists depicting men that is drawn from the permanent collection of The Kinsey Institute.
