A Dog-gone Delightful Afternoon
2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Monroe Lake: Fairfax SRA
http://stateparks.in.gov/2954.htm
Monroe Lake has partnered with the Monroe County 4H Dog Club to offer a special afternoon event for people and their dogs at Fairfax State Recreation Area on Saturday, October 11, from 2 to 5 p.m.
“A Dog-gone Delightful Afternoon” will feature eight interactive activities for people to enjoy with their canine companions: agility course, trick-for-a-treat, scent trail challenge, speed race, rally course, fetch competition, frisbee challenge, and high jump. You can also meet adoptable dogs from the Bloomington Animal Shelter.
Visitors are encouraged to bring a dog food donation for the Bloomington Animal Shelter’s Food Bank. Everyone who donates will be entered into a drawing for a 2016 DNR Annual Entrance Pass.
Proof of current rabies vaccination for dogs must be presented at event check-in. Participating dogs should be friendly and comfortable with both unfamiliar people and other dogs (same goes for the human participants!).
The event is free but the normal Property Entrance Fee does apply, $7 per vehicle with Indiana license plate (or $9 per vehicle with out-of-state plates). Campers staying at Paynetown SRA will be admitted for free to Fairfax SRA on Oct. 11 by showing their camping hangtag (must be valid thru Oct. 11).
