Intro to Puppetry Weekend Workshop

Discover your inner Jim Henson with this entry-level puppetry workshop that will exercise your creative and performing arts skills. Award-winning puppeteer, Emily McGee, will guide you on your puppeteering journey, from conceptualizing and building your personalized puppet to bringing your puppet to life.

Age Range: 12+
Time: Sundays 3:00pm-5:00pm
Dates: October 18 – November 8

Week 1 & 2: Puppet Building
With hands-on instruction in a masked, socially distanced studio environment, new puppeteers will have access to an array of puppet-making tools as they learn how to make a basic rod puppet (similar to Kermit the Frog) with materials provided by BAFT, as well as any extra/personalized materials brought from home.

Week 3 & 4: Puppet Movement/Articulation
Learn how to manipulate puppets (talking, gesturing, body language) in a convincing way, New puppeteers will begin to explore the movement, voice and characterization of a puppet through improv and/or scripted stories.

Stop by Ekah’s Community Garden for an afternoon of farm fresh food, crafting, movement, and mediation.

Farm stand operates on a pay-what-you-can, sliding scale basis. Vendors include: The Plant Truck, Wild Mint Apothecary, Raw Local Honey, and Primally Inspired Eats. Help out with Ekah’s Community Garden, and you get a pass for a free hour of yoga, plus take home some of your harvest!

Join us for STEM Sundays and work together on a project for the whole family! This week we will be creating colorful flowers through several experiments and activities. You can do these activities with paper, markers, scissors, and a container of water. This is a great opportunity for the whole family to explore the engineering design process. All welcome.
