Who is Ada Lovelace? Although the name may be unrecognizable to some, Lovelace is known as the first computer programmer! More importantly, Lovelace was the first person to foresee the creative potential of the technology. Join us for a day of celebration of Women in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Math)

At 12:00pm, Cardinal Stage will host an Ada Day Discussion Panel via Zoom featuring a variety of local women in STEAM. Joining the discussion is IU’s 18th First Lady Laurie Burns McRobbie; IU Ventures Executive Director Teri Willey; founder of The Guarden LLC Nichelle Witney; and Graphic Designer and co-founder of UnderConsideration Bryony Gomez-Palacio. Katy Börner, recipient of last year’s Ada Lovelace Day Award, will be moderating the panel. The panel is free to attend!

Data Visualization Open House at The Mill
When: 2:00 – 6:00 pm
Where: The Dimension Mill, 642 N Madison St

In the afternoon, The Mill will host a showing of large-scale data visualizations known as “Macroscopes,” created by researchers at IU’s School for Informatics, Computing and Engineering. The exhibit will be open to the public from 2:00-6:00 pm in The Mill’s event space on the ground floor. Occupancy will be limited to 30 people at a time, attendees are expected to maintain social distance, and masks will be required (volunteers will be staffing the open house to aid with capacity management). No RSVP required.
