In the summer of 1963, 17-year-old Frances “Baby” Houseman is vacationing with her family at Kellerman’s, a resort in the Catskill Mountains. After visiting a secret after-hours dance party in the staff quarters, Baby is drawn into the personal affairs of the staff members and has the time of her life with Johnny, the lead dance instructor.
Despite lukewarm reviews, Dirty Dancing was a popular sensation. The film drew adult audiences instead of the expected teens, and word-of-mouth promotion took the film to the number one position in the United States. It was one of the highest-grossing films of 1987, earning $170 million worldwide, and Dirty Dancing is credited for boosting attendance in dance classes across America.
Doors for this general admission event will open at 6:30pm. The event begins at 7pm with a mambo demonstration by Arthur Murray Dance Studio instructors and Cuban Salsa dance lesson and demo by Ritmos Latinos instructors.
