Episode #6
Mike Lucas
Sat. 3/6/2021 8pm EST

Mike Lucas, B’Town Jazz’s 2018 Al Cobine Award recipient, is a man of many talents. During his career, Mike has composed and arranged music for many chamber, orchestral, jazz, and vocal ensembles, performed as a pianist with several jazz and dance bands, including the Al Cobine Band, and taught at the IU Jacobs School of Music. After Al Cobine’s death, he kept the band going and is its musical director today. His own group, the Mike Lucas Band (which can range from 1 to 15 musicians depending on the gig) has performed with major celebrities such as Henry Mancini, Johnny Mathis, Andy Williams, Perry Como, and Natalie Cole. You may have also seen Mike around town, and at past B’Town Jazz Fests, with the very popular B-town Bearcats!

Mike will be playing some great jazz standards on piano and chatting with B’Town Jazz president, John Porter. Be sure to catch the video next weekend, available anytime after the premiere Saturday at 8 PM.
