Ekphrasis at The Venue

06:00 pm to 07:00 pm
The Venue Fine Art & Gifts
http://www.thevenuebloomington.com

On Saturday, August 27th, beginning at 6:00p.m., The Venue will feature the paintings and Poets selected for this year’s Venue Ekphrasis.
We at The Venue have invited Twelve of Bloomington’s finest Artists and twelve of our most accomplished Poets to participate in an Ekphrasis. Each artist has submitted a painting, and each poet has selected one of the paintings that inspired them to write a poem. The paintings will be our visual show for the month of August.
On Saturday at The Venue, half of the participating artists will explain the inspiration for their paintings, and the Poets who selected those paintings will read the poems they inspired. We will hear from Poets Patsy Rahn, Tim Reed, Tony Brewer, Julia Mary Heimer Dadds, Lisa Kwong and Rachel Hertz, and artists Jennifer Mujezinovic, Dawn Adams, Caleb Weintraub, Patricia Rhoden Bartels, Don Geyra and Joanne Shank. The interaction will reveal and amplify their creative processes. These performances are free and open to the public.
Last Saturdays performances by our artists and wordsmiths were magical, producing moments when you could literally hear a pin drop, punctuated by wonderful laughter and applause. Our upcoming
performances will be at least as impressive.
The Venues collection of fine art and gifts will be on display and available for purchase.
Refreshments will be served.
Join us for this special evening.
