Bringing artisan-crafted items from more than 40 countries and supporting the newly launched FairTuesday ethical shopping initiative, the ninth annual Fair Trade Holiday Sale will be in the State Room East at the Indiana Memorial Union on Dec. 3 – 4, 10 am to 5 pm. Brought to campus by the entrepreneurial student group, Enactus IUB, and Fair Trade Bloomington, the two-day holiday sale is open to the public and is Bloomington’s largest fair trade event that empowers visitors to support sustainable global development and directly transform communities with each purchase.
Fair trade items and gifts available at the sale include handmade jewelry, holiday ornaments, chocolate, baskets, woolens, textiles, bags and purses, and features local artwork from the Stone Belt Arts Program. Ten Thousand Villages, Imani, Global Mamas, and Minga Fair Trade Imports are among the many brands offered. Enactus IUB travels to Ecuador with Minga, volunteering in Fair Trade product development.
