In Celebration of Limestone Quarries and Carvers

10:05 pm

By Hand Gallery is pleased to partner with the ILS in presenting In Celebration of Limestone: quarries and carvers for the months of June and July. On display will be the work of many stone carvers who have been friends and supporters of the Symposium–as founders, master carvers, carving instructors, and artist participants, and Meg Lagodski who has been painting exclusively in quarries for the last several years. Limestone is the heart of Bloomington. The availability of the finely grained Oolitic Limestone of the Salem Formation has been our bedrock economic, aesthetic, and structural resource for centuries. June is Bloomington’s Limestone Month and in July the Indiana Limestone Symposium will host its 25th Anniversary workshops at its ByBee Stone site.

Cost: none
